Founded with love by two Asheville natives.

The Daily Grind was founded by two friends who love coffee. Their kaleidoscope of interests is bound by compassion, caffeine, and their deep connections to the Asheville area.

Dee Dee Allan
Avid reader • Bee Guardian • Groundhog Admirer

  • When Dee Dee Allan isn’t being an accomplished seamstress (she made our exquisite aprons) she is educating people on saving the bees. She’s got a buzz for coffee! A retired school counselor, Dee Dee approaches life with an openness for learning and listening. She also is an avid book reader and book lover, curating our book shelves in The Nook. Bean, our groundhog mascot, is one of many groundhogs that live on her property. Her dog Princess Leia loves to sit on the deck all day and do “Goundhog Patrol.” Dee Dee is an Asheville native going back generations.

Chuck Giezentanner
Local artist • Performer • Barista Extraordinare

  • Chuck Giezentanner is the grandson of the Giezentanner Market Giezentanners, formerly located on Merrimon Avenue and Broadway in Asheville, North Carolina. His passion for the service industry is genetic. He trained as a barista at Hathaway’s in Biltmore Village, back in the day, and his love of coffee was born there. A known local artist, his work has been shown in New York City and Miami. Chuck is also a member of the Asheville Symphony Chorus, performing in their seasons periodically. He loves his coffee with just a bit of oat milk! Mares eat oats, Does eat oats, and little Lambs eat ivy…

Our Partners

We are proud to partner with some of Western North Carolina’s best local businesses to provide locally-roasted organic coffee beverages and the most savory pastries.
